Page size and orientation

Auto makes each page the same shape as its image, so nothing is cropped and there are no white borders. Portrait and Landscape place images that do not match onto an A4 page in that orientation, centered and scaled to fit.

Use Auto for photos and screenshots, and Portrait for document scans that you want to print on standard paper.

Quality and file size

JPG and PNG images are embedded as they are, without being re-compressed, so quality is unchanged. Other formats such as WebP are converted to PNG first.

Phone photos can be several megabytes each. For a smaller PDF, shrink the images with the Compress Image or Resize Image tool before adding them.
