About Resize Image

Change an image's width and height in pixels, or scale it by 25, 50, or 75 percent. Keep the aspect ratio locked so nothing looks stretched, check the new size and file weight, and download the resized image in its original format.

Resizing without distortion

With Lock aspect ratio on, changing the width updates the height automatically, and the other way round, so the image keeps its proportions. Turn the lock off only when you need an exact size and do not mind stretching, or crop first with the Crop & Rotate tool.

Making an image smaller works well. Making it larger than the original adds no detail; the result looks softer, so start from the biggest version you have.

Common target sizes

Blog and website images rarely need to be wider than 1600 to 2000 pixels. Email images are usually 600 to 1200 pixels wide. Profile pictures are often 400 × 400. Shrinking a 4000-pixel phone photo to 1600 pixels typically cuts the file size by around 80%.

Questions about Resize Image

Does resizing maintain image proportions?
Yes. The aspect ratio lock calculates proportional height when width changes, and vice versa.
What format is the resized image saved in?
The same format you uploaded. To change format, use the Image Converter afterwards.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail, so the result looks softer. Start from the largest original you have.
What does the percentage preset do?
It scales both width and height by that percentage, so 50% turns 2000 × 1000 into 1000 × 500.
