Make photos and graphics smaller without uploading them anywhere. Choose JPG, WebP, or PNG output, move the quality slider, and compare the original and compressed versions side by side with their file sizes before you download.

Choosing a format and quality
For photos, JPG or WebP at 70 to 85% quality usually cuts the file size by more than half with no difference you can see at normal viewing size. WebP is typically 25 to 35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and keeps transparency.
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not affect it. PNG suits screenshots, logos, and graphics with flat colors and sharp text. For photos saved as PNG, switching to JPG or WebP gives the biggest saving.
When an image will not get smaller
Images that were already compressed, such as photos from a phone or social media, may not shrink further at high quality. The tool tells you when the result is not smaller, so you never download a bigger file by mistake. Lower the quality or switch format to get a real saving.
Compression keeps the image's width and height. To make a large photo much smaller, resize it to the dimensions you actually need first, then compress.

Questions about Compress Image
- Are images uploaded to an external server?
- No. All compression algorithms execute inside your local browser canvas memory. Image files never leave your device.
- What image formats can be compressed?
- JPEG, PNG, and WebP image formats are supported.
- What quality should I use?
- Start at 80%. If you cannot see a difference from the original at normal size, try lower. Below about 60%, blur and blocky edges start to show.
- Does compression remove EXIF data?
- Yes. Re-encoding the image drops metadata such as GPS location and camera details. Use the EXIF Stripper if that is your main goal.
- Will compressing change the image dimensions?
- No. Width and height stay the same. Use Resize Image to make the image smaller in pixels as well.
