What each type does

A URL code opens a web page. A Wi-Fi code lets guests join your network by scanning instead of typing the password. An email code opens a new message with the address, subject, and body filled in. Plain text simply shows the text on the phone.

These are static codes: the content is stored in the pattern itself, so they keep working forever with no account or service behind them. To change where a code points later, you would need a dynamic QR service.

Making codes that scan reliably

Keep a dark pattern on a light background and leave the white margin around it. Higher error correction (Q or H) lets a code still scan when part of it is damaged or covered, at the cost of a denser pattern.

For print, download SVG and keep the code at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inches). Test it with your own phone before printing a large run.

Questions about QR Code Generator

Do generated QR codes ever expire?
No. These are static QR codes that encode your data directly into the pixel matrix and will work forever.
What does error correction level do?
Error correction (L, M, Q, H) allows the QR code to be scanned even if part of the code is smudged, damaged, or obscured (up to 30% recovery at High level).
Are these QR codes free for commercial use?
Yes. There are no fees, limits, or watermarks.
Can I track how many people scan my code?
Not with a static code. Add tracking parameters to your URL and check them in your website analytics instead.
Can I use special characters in my Wi-Fi password?
Yes. Characters such as ; , : and " are escaped automatically so phones read the network name and password correctly.
