About Random Password Generator

Generate strong, random passwords from 6 to 64 characters. Choose uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols, optionally avoid look-alike characters, and see an estimate of how strong the password is.

How the passwords are made

Characters are chosen with your browser's built-in cryptographic random generator, the same source used for encryption keys, so the result cannot be predicted. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Strength is shown in bits of entropy, which grows with both length and the size of the character set. Length matters most: a 16-character password with all four character types has over 100 bits, far beyond what any attacker can guess.

Using passwords well

Use a different password for every account and store them in a password manager, so a breach on one site cannot unlock the others. Turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered.

Excluding ambiguous characters such as 1, l, I, 0, and O helps when a password has to be read aloud or typed from paper.

Questions about Random Password Generator

Are generated passwords stored or sent anywhere?
No. Passwords are generated directly in your browser using window.crypto.getRandomValues and never leave memory.
What makes a strong password?
Passwords with at least 16 characters mixing upper/lowercase letters, digits, and special symbols provide over 90+ bits of entropy, making brute-force cracking virtually impossible.
How long should a password be?
At least 16 characters for important accounts. Longer is always stronger.
Can I generate several passwords at once?
Yes. Choose how many passwords to generate from the list at the bottom of the options.
Should I avoid symbols?
Only if a site rejects them. Symbols make a password stronger; if they are not allowed, use a longer password instead.
