What you can convert
Length covers millimeters to kilometers and inches to miles. Weight covers milligrams to metric tons, plus ounces and pounds. Temperature converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. Time runs from milliseconds to weeks, and speed covers meters per second, km/h, mph, and knots.
Digital storage uses binary units, where 1 KB is 1,024 bytes and 1 MB is 1,024 KB. That matches how Windows and most apps report file sizes. Drive manufacturers use 1,000 instead, which is why a 1 TB drive shows as about 931 GB on your computer.
Accuracy
Conversions use the exact international definitions, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg. Results are rounded for display, so copy the value with all its digits when precision matters.
Temperature is not a simple multiplication: 0 °C is 32 °F, and each degree Celsius is 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

Questions about Universal Unit Converter
- Are conversions exact?
- Conversions follow standardized international SI conversion formulas.
- Why does my 1 TB drive show less space?
- Drive makers count 1 TB as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, while computers count in powers of 1,024. Both are correct; they use different units.
- How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit by hand?
- Multiply by 1.8 and add 32. For example, 20 °C × 1.8 + 32 = 68 °F.
- Is a ton 1,000 kg here?
- Yes. The ton option is the metric ton (tonne) of 1,000 kg, not the US short ton of 2,000 lb.
- How many decimal places are shown?
- Up to six, which is enough for everyday and most technical use.
